Transpiration of Plants Science Experiment

Transpiration of Plants Science Experiment

During the lifecycle of a plant unit or gardening theme when talking about the leaves and their function you may wish to cover the term transpiration of plants.

It isn’t exactly important that the children remember the term as much as showing them “what” the term means.

Simple terms – the plant leaves are sweating.

Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere.

Transpiration is essentially evaporation of water from plant leaves.  You don’t see the leaves “sweating” but it is happening.
