Sandy Clay Recipe

Build your own indoor sand castles with this sandy clay recipe. The clay is great for a day of fun!

Sandy Clay Materials:
¾ Cup Hot Water
1 Cup Play Sand
½ Cup Corn Starch
1 teaspoon Granulated Alum

Instructions:
1.) Measure out all dry ingredients into a saucepan
2.) Measure out 3/4 cup of extremely hot water in a glass measuring cup. Place in microwave to heat the water up.
3.) Place the saucepan over medium heat on stove top burner.
4.) Stir with a wooden spoon until liquid evaporates. About 1- 1 1/2 minutes.
5.) Remove mixture from burner and let cool.
6.) Play with clay.

This clay would be perfect for a day of fun. It does dry out within a day though. If needed sprinkle a few drops of water to the mixture to keep the clay moist. I have luck keeping the clay a few days in an air tight container and then placing a wet dish towel over the clay for a half hour before using it the next day to extend it’s life.

Please place some wax paper on your table top surface while using it…sand can be abrasive.
