Homemade Kool-Aid Tempera Paint Recipe

No need to go out and purchase tempera paint. Whip up your own rainbow of colors in a few minutes. You more than likely have everything you need to get started in your kitchen right now!

3 cups water (divided into (2) 1-1/2 cups portions)
2 cups all purpose flour (divided in (2) 1 cup portions)
2 packages of Kool-Aid
1/2 cup salt (Divided into (2) 1/4 cup portions
3 T Vegetable oil

This will create three pint jars of paint.

If you wish to divide the paint into smaller portions, do not add the Kool-Aid until after you have mixed up an entire batch (it will be white). Separate the white mixture into your desired containers and then add the color and scented Kool-Aid.

One complete batch will fill up a quart jar with a little remaining.

1.) Boil water and let cool to lukewarm

2.) In a medium mixing bowl add 1 cup of flour, 1 Kool aid package and 1/4 cup salt. Mix.

3.) Add 3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil to water. Give a little stir.

4.) Add 1-1/2 cup of the lukewarm water and oil mix to the dry ingredients and stir well.

5.) Repeat process with remaining ingredients.

Whichever color and scent of Kool-Aid you use, will determine the color and scent of your paint. If you don’t care about the scent, you can add food coloring to give the paints additional colors. You can also brighten scented colors with food coloring if you desire.
